Last Assignment

It is the final assignment already, we are doing canvas painting,a LARGE one,no, TWO. We have to paint according to the music we listen during that moment. It is a painting of feelings and emotions, to sum it up, it is abstract painting.
For the first painting we paint while listening to classical music. All the musics i heard is from Brahms, piano. It makes me thought of the old times where it is full of nature green flora and fauna. Therefore my music background is green colour. As I listen longer I suddenly thought of guitar, even thought it is not classical music instrument but I just have a feeling that a guitar must be inside because the music lacks of guitar's tune. So I paint a guitar as well. Last but not least I paint the guitar hole with a cup of coffee look from top view because listening classical music must enjoy with a cup of coffee.

For my second painting is about modern music. I heard modern mainstream songs that full of dubstep and auto tune. It feels like the music has waves and the melody is inconsistent, it is like the changing method is boundless. So I use my hand to paint it by creating waves using fingers.

It is finally the end of semester and I'm proud of myself that I learn a lot of things from this subject. Thank you Mz. Lisa for teaching us so many things.

Presentation for our Batik~

this is a group batik presentation formed by me, Ilona, Hossain and Priya. Our Batik is well done except we were too excited to make our batik that we forgot to manage our composition. As you can see we have 2 portrait and 2 landscape, then we made up a solution which is using our batik and form the shape of a castle and present it. The presentation went better than expected, I can't wait for the last project on tuesday which is paint for musics. :D
From this we learn that composition is very important because no matter how nice is the painting or drawing or art work without composition it will not look nice at all.

Batik Trip

I think Batik Trip is the most exciting assignment for so far. We managed to learn a lot new things like how to   draw on Batik using wax and colour it. This is another group assignment. This time I group with Hussain, Priya and Ilona and we make our Batik based on the theme transelvania. I'm making a dracula castle, Hussain making a dracula, Priya making our title and Ilona making the Bat that transformed from dracula.

so I will show mine first. Drawing batik is a very difficult task because once you made a mistake it is difficult to undo the mistake, we learn a lot about being very careful while using the wax because it is very hot and how to draw steadily.

POSTER

After done the monogram now we have to do a poster that based on the monogram we made. My poster was kinda screwed up.

PRINT MONOGRAM ON ITEMS

After designing our monogram, we have to stencil it and print it on 6 items,it could be phone cover,bags, shirts or any daily used objects. So I printed on these objects. From this assignment I learnt that how to cut and stencil, manage space and being accurate and focus. It is very important to focus while doing stencil.

MONOGRAM

So basically our next assignment is to create our own monogram using our name. My name is Andrew Chua therefore I'm gonna use AC as my monogram alphabet. I've tried many different designs and using those famous monogram and logo as references.

after letting Mz.Lisa helped me to check, the final outcome is a 3-Dimensional version of AC

Air Hockey Table

It took us 3 days to create this masterpiece. The most success part of this masterpiece is this is not just a display, it is functional. From this assignment I learn that to create something, everything comes from drawing, 2-Dimensional then only it transforms to 3-Dimensional.

Class Assignments

we have a class assignment based on cutting paper and our theme is 1980's Nintendo arcade. we are gonna make a few 1980's Nintendo game out using paper cutting. The game is Super Mario, Tetris and Pac-man. Besides, we are going to make a live size checker and an air hockey table. My team, Ashley, Doreen are doing air hockey table. We were supposed to have Clarin in our team but she changed to checker team. Before we did everything we did some research about air hockey table. Therefore I did some research about  air hockey before making it, I even went to Sunway Pyramid to look at the real air hockey table as reference.

Basically air hockey is a game that required a long table with 2 mallet and pucks. We went to Sunway Pyramid arcade station to analyse the air hockey table as well.

                                                                                   

Expanding Squares

This is my Expanding Square.....

this is a cherry blossom tree. It expands from a square but too bad it didn't able to be seen that it is from a square.

this is the 'Square Expanding-ception'. The square expands a square expands a square expands a square and keep repeating. I actually flipped it instead of cutting and imagine it is a perspective view of buildings with a street in the middle and you can walk through it and going further and further.












From this assignment I learnt about understanding symmetry and asymmetry, Principle of Design, Balance and elements of art, space and shape. Most important is the positive and negative of shape because from this we can learn how to manage our interior spaces, organisation of furniture with the spaces that available.

First Assignment

On the 2nd week, we have our first assignment briefing. It is EXPANDING SQUARE!!!!
well, basically expanding squares means creating a black and white collage out of a simple square, and learning about positive and negative space. So, here are some examples of expanding squares

Basically this is it and I will show what I did during practice.

there is an expanding Pac-man and one more is about meteor strikes on land and causes explosion.

We need to create 2 more expanding squares with 1 symmetrical and 1 non symmetrical as example, this is our assignment.

First Day

My first day of class was 2 weeks before Chinese New Year, Ms. Lisa asked to make a self portrait with anything you can. we can use leaves, branches, paper, rock and anything. This was the previous Principle of Design's first assignment too. Ms. Lisa wanted to see the difference between the starting of the year and after half a year. Either way it was just my first time, so I tried to keep it simple and memorable. Therefore i have made this.

This portrait is about I'm a boy who came Kuantan, Pahang went to Selangor Taylor's Lakeside University to study. As people know Kuantan is just a small rural town that full of jungles and beaches to explore, but actually for me Selangor and Kuala Lumpur is my jungles and beaches for me to explore because if the richness in technology, modernism, culture and society. People said City is full of nerds who only stay at home but for me is exactly opposite. I'm a boy who stay at rural town area yet I always stay home and play video games all the time. This is me, my life. :)

2-D design class

Finally I created the blog. I'm sorry that I'm late for this but I was really busy for Chinese New Year. I went to Taiwan, Tai Pei for a week, and here is some picture of the trip.
